Our new sharing from the Blue House of HYGEIA is a quotation from Diogenes of Oinoanda, a voice that hasn’t lost its relevance.Diogenes of Oinoanda, fragment II, quoted in Andre Jean Voelke,‘La philosophie comme thérapie de l’âme’,Université de Fribourg, 1993. ‘As most of the people, like struck by the plague, are in common sick of the wrong-opinion regarding the nature of things, and that the number of victims is growing-due to their eagerness to imitate each other they transmit in fact the disease like sheep- and because it is just to rescue also those who will come after us-as they are ours too, even if they aren’t born yet-and furthermore the love for mankind commands to assist the foreigners that live among us, because the help of this writing will be much of interest for a great number of people, I have decided to use this portico to present to the public the remedies that provide salvation. These remedies, in a word, were put forward in all their diversity. In fact, we chased away the fears that were possessing us in vain; as for the afflictions, those that are empty, we have them completely excised; those that are natural, we reduced them to almost little influence, taking their might down to the minimum.’
